Read MoreSource: A clinical study showed a 49% average reduction in stress due to pain and 48% reduction in pain affecting mood from baseline after 3 weeks. This randomized, controlled, open-label, parallel group home-use study aimed to determine if use of the self-administered VR-based 21-day chronic pain management program improved pain, psychological and physical outcomes. 109 participants were randomized into the experiment arm (VR product) and control arm (audio only). Participants were asked to use the VR product or listen to an audio recording daily during the 21-day period per a provided schedule. Participants were asked to report their health status prior to the start of the program, throughout the program, and following completion of the program. Improvement was measured by analysis of the self-reported outcomes data. Reid, M.W. & Tsuei, J.H. (2019). Virtual Reality for At-Home Chronic Pain Self- Management Pilot Study. Unpublished manuscript.
